What managers get from TrackForce
See delivery in context
Completed tasks, project progress and hours sit in one view, so a low number, or a shorter Ramadan month, is read against the workload behind it.
Spot overload early
Each person carries an overloaded, balanced or underloaded status, and insights suggest where tasks could move before deadlines slip.
Choose what is captured
Screenshot intervals, keystroke logging and app tracking are set per device during setup, so capture can follow a written purpose.
From install to a workload view managers can act on
Three steps. Settings come first, so the data collected is the data you decided to collect.
Install and choose capture
Install the desktop app on Windows or Mac devices, then set screenshot intervals, keystroke logging and app tracking per device. Leave off anything the entity’s purpose does not need.
Organise teams and access
Import staff from Excel or CSV, tag them by department and assign supervisors. Managers and admins get separate roles and permissions.
Read output, then talk
Workload sits beside output for the whole period. The conversation starts from evidence rather than from the last fortnight.
1234- Projects and tasks at a glance. Current projects, total tasks, work in progress and tasks completed today.
- Progress against hours. Each project shows completion beside hours used against hours planned.
- Team workload. Task count, hours spent, efficiency score and an overloaded, balanced or underloaded status per person.
- Insights. Flags delivery risk and overload, and suggests where tasks could move.
Which data protection rules apply to which entity
The federal Personal Data Protection Law has applied since 2 January 2022, but Article 2 excludes free-zone entities with their own data protection law. A company licensed in one place answers to one regime. A group with entities in more than one answers to each, entity by entity.
Federal PDPL
Federal Decree-Law No. 45 of 2021 covers mainland companies in Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Sharjah and the other emirates. Its Executive Regulations are still to come.
DIFC Data Protection Law
DIFC Law No. 5 of 2020 applies inside the financial centre. Amendment Law No. 1 of 2025, in force from 15 July 2025, lets individuals bring claims directly before the DIFC Courts.
ADGM Regulations 2021
Abu Dhabi Global Market runs its own Data Protection Regulations 2021. An ADGM office of an onshore group sits under these, not under the PDPL.

Before any device is enrolled
- Write down the purpose for each entity.
- Start with output, workload and hours. Add screenshots or recordings only where a written assessment supports them.
- Tell staff in writing what is measured, and why.
- Decide capture settings for each entity’s devices before they are enrolled.
The PDPL Executive Regulations have yet to be issued (BSA LAW, Chambers 2026). Once they are, organisations have six months to comply. Last reviewed: October 2026.
Article 44 and capture settings
“Tracking or monitoring the geographical location data of others” is one of the acts Article 44 makes an offence.
BSA LAW, translation of Federal Decree-Law No. 34 of 2021, Article 44
Article 44 of Federal Decree-Law No. 34 of 2021 applies where information technology is used with intent to infringe a person’s privacy, without consent and in circumstances not legally permitted. The acts it lists include recording communications, photographing people and tracking location. Reporting output, workload and hours is a different activity, but capture features deserve a separate check.
Calls, messages, audio
Any feature involving communications needs a separate legal and necessity assessment before use.
Screenshots and screen records
TrackForce can capture screenshots and screen recordings, set per device. Assess the need and tell staff before switching them on.
Where someone is
The law names tracking someone’s location. Location data needs its own legal assessment before it is collected.
No UAE government source addresses employer monitoring directly, so this is a reading of the statute, not official guidance. Article 44 carries prison terms and fines, so take UAE legal advice before collecting content or location data.
Working hours, overtime and Ramadan
For onshore private-sector employers, the rules below come from Federal Decree-Law No. 33 of 2021. DIFC and ADGM have their own employment laws, so check those separately.
| Rule | What the law says | What it means for measurement |
|---|---|---|
| Normal hours | 8 hours a day or 48 hours a week, under Article 17. | Output targets have to be read against contracted hours, not against whatever hours happened to be logged. |
| Overtime | No more than 2 hours a day. Paid at basic hourly pay plus 25 per cent, or plus 50 per cent between 10pm and 4am. Shift workers are treated differently. | Overtime pay depends on when the hours were worked, so the hours record has to carry times, not just totals. |
| Rest day | Set by the employment contract or work regulations. Work on that day earns a substitute rest day or pay plus 50 per cent. | The law does not fix a Saturday and Sunday weekend. Measurement has to follow each contract’s rest day, not a company-wide calendar. |
| Ramadan | Working hours are reduced by 2 hours every day. | An 8-hour day becomes 6. A target set for a normal month reads 25 per cent short in Ramadan unless it is adjusted. |
TrackForce logs working hours per employee and shows output beside them, so a Ramadan month can be read as a shorter month rather than a weaker team. See our guide to employee monitoring software with time tracking.
What TrackForce helps managers do
Six everyday decisions the reports support. The desktop agent can also capture screenshots, screen recordings, keystrokes, app and website use and file transfers. Given Article 44, those settings belong only on devices where a written purpose needs them and staff have been told and have agreed.
Review the full period
Output per employee across the whole review period, so a review does not rest on the last fortnight.
Separate workload from performance
Volume carried sits beside output, so a low number reads correctly when the work was heavy.
Reallocate before deadlines slip
Each person shows as overloaded, balanced or underloaded, with insights on where tasks could move.
See where project time goes
Hours by project, which turns a reallocation argument into numbers.
Cut month-end reporting
Hours and workload build from everyday work, so reports do not wait on manual timesheets.
Capture settings per device
Screenshot interval, keystroke logging, app tracking and file transfer visibility are chosen per device, so collection can stay inside the stated purpose.

What to check in any productivity tool, and where TrackForce stands
Seven questions worth asking every vendor on your shortlist, with TrackForce’s own answers. A wider market view sits in our guide to the best workforce analytics software.
| What to check | TrackForce | Why it matters in the UAE |
|---|---|---|
| Output and workload reporting | Task efficiency, workload status and project progress per employee | Output evidence supports a purpose that is specific and proportionate |
| Working hours | Logged per employee by the desktop app and shown over the full period | Labour Law caps hours at 8 a day and 48 a week, with overtime limits and Ramadan hours |
| Activity capture | Screenshots, keystroke logging, app and website use, file transfers, configured per device | Article 44 of the Cybercrime Law penalises capture that infringes privacy without consent |
| Visibility to staff | A login-based app staff sign in to. Centrally managed background deployment is also supported for IT-managed devices | Covert capture is where Article 44 risk is highest |
| Access control | Separate roles and permissions for managers and admins | Limits who can see individual data |
| Team structure | Staff tagged by department and assigned to supervisors | Keeps reporting lines clear for each entity: mainland, DIFC or ADGM |
| Retention | Confirm the retention period for your plan with TrackForce | PDPL, DIFC and ADGM rules all expect data kept no longer than needed |

UAE questions, answered before you ask
Does TrackForce need software on employees’ computers?
Yes. A desktop app runs on each Windows or Mac device, and admins manage everything from a web portal. Staff can be imported from Excel or CSV and grouped by department.
Capture settings such as screenshot intervals, keystroke logging and app tracking are chosen per device during setup.
Can staff see when TrackForce is running?
TrackForce offers a login-based app that staff sign in to and start themselves. For IT-managed devices, TrackForce also supports centrally managed deployment that runs in the background.
Before using background operation, confirm the legal basis, staff notice and internal approval it needs. In the UAE, Article 44 of the Cybercrime Law targets capture that infringes privacy without consent, so staff should be told what is collected before any device is enrolled.
Can different UAE entities use different settings?
Capture settings are chosen per device, so devices used by a DIFC team can run different settings from devices on the mainland. Staff are grouped by department under named supervisors, and managers and admins have separate roles.
Confirm with TrackForce how admin access should be split for your entity structure.
Are screenshots optional?
Yes. Screenshot settings, including the interval, are chosen per device alongside keystroke logging and app tracking. A team that does not need screenshots can be set up without them.
Can managers and admins have different access?
Yes. Managers and admins are given separate roles and permissions in the web portal, which limits who can see individual-level data.
Is TrackForce priced in dirhams?
List prices are published in US dollars: Essential is $4.99 a month and Professional is $14.99 a month, with Custom priced on request. AED invoices are available on request for UAE companies, and VAT may apply.
The 30-day trial needs no card and no currency decision.
Which data protection law applies to employee monitoring in the UAE?
It depends on where each entity is licensed. Mainland companies fall under the federal Personal Data Protection Law, Federal Decree-Law No. 45 of 2021. Entities in DIFC fall under DIFC Data Protection Law No. 5 of 2020, and entities in ADGM fall under the ADGM Data Protection Regulations 2021.
A group with entities in more than one of these answers to each regime for that entity’s staff, so capture settings are best decided entity by entity.
Have the PDPL Executive Regulations been issued?
Not as of October 2026. The PDPL has been in force since 2 January 2022, but its Executive Regulations are still pending. Once they are issued, organisations get six months to comply.
Because the date is unknown, the safer course is to document the purpose of any monitoring now and keep collection to what that purpose needs.
Is employee monitoring legal in the UAE?
The UAE has no law written specifically about employee monitoring. The firmest line is Article 44 of Federal Decree-Law No. 34 of 2021, which makes it an offence to use technology with intent to infringe someone’s privacy, without consent and in circumstances not legally permitted, including by recording communications, photographing people or tracking their location.
Penalties start at six months in prison, a fine of AED 150,000 to AED 500,000, or both. Measuring output and working hours is a different activity from any of those, but content capture and location data need legal advice first.
How do working hours change during Ramadan?
For the private sector, working hours are reduced by two hours every day during Ramadan. An eight-hour day becomes six.
Output targets set for a normal month will read about a quarter short unless they are adjusted, so reading output against hours actually worked matters most in that month.
Is the UAE weekend Saturday and Sunday by law?
No. The Labour Law requires a weekly rest day but leaves which day it falls on to the employment contract or work regulations. Saturday and Sunday is the federal government’s schedule and common private-sector practice, not a legal requirement.
For measurement, that means each team’s working week should follow its contracts, not a single company calendar.
